December 19, 2007 - "Not Accordion 2 The Rulez" CD receives a "Wammie" (Washington, DC Area Music Association) nomination in the "2007 Best World Music Recording" category.
April 5, 2007 - "Tejanita" a polka from THE POLKA ELEMENT received an "Honorable Mention" in the 2006 Mid-Atlantic Song Writing Contest "World Music" category. You can find the PDF of the certificate at: www.mikzcardz.com/MASC.pdf
Here is a quote from the organization about "honorable" mentions since they only give 2 winning awards for each category - Gold & Silver.
"Honorable Mention means that your song(s) were generally within the
top 10-15% of songs in that category, but individual judges who loved
your work regardless of where it placed in scoring were able to draw
your song into the honorable mention category."
March 19, 2007 - THE POLKA ELEMENT was named the #5 polka variety cd of 2006. All of the 247polkaheaven IJ/DJs voted in the first round and then listeners from all over the world voted to determine the winners. 247 Polkaheaven is a website that broadcasts polka music radio shows 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. February 18, 2007 - I was awarded a "Wammie" from WAMA, the Washington, DC Area Music Association, in their "Electronica" category for Best "Studio Artist/Producer." This is a great organization and they truly recognize all styles of music being performed from Jazz to World to Country to Classical and so on. I encourage any DC area musicians to join WAMA.
